This is Cam, my 9 year old Pit Bull/Golden Retriever mix and my heart dog. She is the first dog I got as an adult and was the easiest puppy. At a year old I took her to the dog park like I did regularly at the time and unfortunately, she was attacked unprovoked. This one encounter was the reason why Cam became insecure and extremely reactive. I used to believe that she needed dog friends and constantly pushed her on other dogs, making her reactivity worse. Once I let go of the idea of her needing fog friends her reactivity began to lessen. This was the point where I wanted to get more in to training so I could help Cam and myself as her handler become more confident so we began to rebuild our relationship. This didn’t happen overnight. It took hundreds of hours of working together to get her and I to be the best versions of ourselves for each other. We got to a point where we could safely enjoy dog sports, such as FCAT, CAT, & bikejoring, join hiking meetups, and she was even able to be my demo dog with lesson clients. Today Cam is retired due to her age and her slowing down. We still occasionally go on hiking meetups, but she would much rather just sit at home and hang out on the couch.

In October 2022, I decided to rehome Cam to my brother. He is able to provide her mental and physical needs as well as providing a home without other animals or dogs that I could not.
